Everything that goes into your body directly reflects on your skin and, while there is no food that stops aging, maintaining a balanced diet high in vitamins, minerals and antioxidants can help in slowing down the aging process. Foods with a high nutritious value and anti-inflammatory properties contribute to an even complexion, reduce the chance of acne and restore damaged skin. Therefore, I put together the ultimate grocery list that helps in supporting you achieve healthy, glowing and youthful skin.

Nuts, Seeds & Whole Grains 

Rich in fatty acids, nuts and seeds are a great source of Omega-3 which is essential for smooth and glowing skin, while whole grains are packed with vitamins and minerals that improve skin texture and keep the skin looking healthy.

Avocado

Rich in vitamin E and healthy fats, avocados are great in protecting the skin from oxidative damage and UV rays and is an essential food in keeping the skin flexible and moisturized.

Fruits

Fruits are an excellent source of folic acid, magnesium and potassium alongside with other vitamins and minerals that help restore damaged skin and even complexion. Due to their extensive beneficial properties, fruits are also great to use in homemade face masks.

Turmeric & Saffron

Vitamins A and C rich foods

Foods like broccoli, carrots, spinach, kale, collard greens, sweet potato and beets are packed with vitamin A and Vitamin C which help protect the skin from UV rays, restore healthy skin cells, prevent premature aging and pigmentation, leaving your skin looking healthy and radiant. Vitamin C is also known for promoting collagen production, alongside zinc and copper.

Cucumber

All you need to know is that cucumber is 96% water so enough said. It helps keep your skin hydrated, cool, and firm. It is also beneficial as an anti-aging aid, helps protect from UV rays, and makes the skin tone even as well as helps tighten the skin.  Not to mention that cucumber boasts high levels of vitamin C and is rich in antioxidants.

Sweet potato

Fun fact: sweet potato acts like a natural sunblock due to it being rich in carotenoids like beta-carotene and it’s great at preventing sunburns, cell death, and dry skin.

Dark Chocolate

Not only tasty but also extremely beneficial for our skin due to its antioxidant properties. Consumed daily, it helps make the skin thicker and more hydrated. It’s important to stick to 70% or more cocoa to maximize the benefits.

Water & Herbal Teas

The (not so) secret to glowing skin, drinking enough water helps keep your skin hydrated, clear, and soft. Combine that with herbal teas like green tea, chamomile, white tea, and rose tea, which are rich in antioxidants and have anti-inflammatory properties and your skin will be looking healthy and radiant in no time.
